JOHOR BARU: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) were left to rue their luck after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Gyeongnam in their AFC Champions League Group E match.

The Southern Tigers were the dominant side playing in front of their fans at the Larkin Stadium but were denied by the goalpost twice in the first half.

It was Gyeongnam's Kwak Tae-Hwi who scored first in the 52nd minute before Diogo Santo equalised through a spot-kick in the 68th minute to share the points at the Larkin Stadium.

The South Korean side's defence struggled to contain JDT attack, spearheaded by Santo and Safawi Rasid and were lucky to keep the scoreline 0-0 in the first half.

JDT pressed hard for the equaliser and they deservedly got the leveller with a penalty after Song Ju-hun handled the ball in the box in the 67th minute.

Santo confidently slammed the ball right down the centre, past the diving goalkeeper Lee Bum-Soo to draw level.

JDT pushed hard for the winner but could not find the breakthough and settled for a draw.
