LONDON - The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a girl, hours after going into labour, Kensington Palace tweeted on Saturday.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am," the royal household said in a tweet.

"The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth," it added

 As the world waits for the pictures of the new baby princess these are pictures of Prince George's christening  which was a lot like one snapped at Prince William's baptism in 1982
