GEORGE TOWN: A woman was kissed and hugged by a group of youths outside a lift at an apartment block in Bukit Jambul before she was robbed.

The woman, who is in her 30s, had just walked out of the lift on the 28th floor at about 10.35pm on Thursday when the three youths accosted her.

While one of the youths kissed and hugged her, another took her handbag containing RM40, a handphone and some shopping vouchers.

One of them even took off his pants to make “further advances”.

The youths were arrested the next day and a fourth suspect was picked up by the police for having bought the woman’s handphone from them.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the youths, aged between 16 and 20, were detained in Sungai Nibong and Gelugor at about 6.30pm.

“The youths returned the handbag to the woman after she begged them.

“They kept her handphone, the RM40 and shopping vouchers.

“All the suspects are no longer schooling,” he said, adding that the three youths had admitted to molesting and robbing the woman.

The suspects have been remanded for investigations into gang robbery and the use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.
