According to its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, to date seven individuals including three police officers have been arrested and remanded to assist in the investigation.
"In this investigation, we suspect that a number of false claims of over RM15 million were made and we are investigating. As a result of this investigation, seven arrests were made, involving three PDRM officers and the rest from related companies.
"The first time we had remands for six people, which started from April 24 to April 30, and the latest arrest involved a PDRM officer who was remanded from April 26 to May 2," he explained when contacted by TV3's Bulletin today.
Azam added that more witnesses would be called to assist in the investigation into the case.
"So this investigation is actively underway, we have obtained documents from the Police, which the Police, especially the Inspector-General of Police, has fully cooperated with the MACC and this information is also the result of a joint investigation with the Police."
"Because it is under the jurisdiction of the MACC, so the police handed over the case to us for further investigation, we expect several witnesses to be called, especially from the company, the Home Office and the Royal Malaysian Police because procurement issues are our priority in how the procurement was made," he added.
Previously, the media reported that the company's director, chief financial officer (CFO) and two police officers were among six individuals arrested on suspicion of being involved in false claims for the procurement.
The overall value of the C4i project is estimated to be approximately RM70 million, which is given to PDRM and managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
