SHAH ALAM: Businessman Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad has again been charged today on two counts of accepting over RM4 million in bribes in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Segambut division deputy chief claimed trial for both the charges against him before judge Rozilah Salleh at the Shah Alam Sessions Court here this morning.

The case was prosecuted by Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutors Allan Suman Pillai and Maziah Mohaide, while the accused was represented by lawyer Datuk Seri Rajan Navaratnam.

The 42-year-old was accused of receiving RM2 million from one Lian Tan Chuan, as an incentive to help Nepturis Sdn. Bhd. to obtain the North Klang District Headquarters Project from the government worth RM141 million between April 4, last year and Jan 5 this year.

He was also accused of receiving a RM2.1 million bribe from the managing director of MIE Infrastructure and Energy Sdn Bhd, Mat Jusoh Mamat, as kickbacks for the company to secure the Sungai Adam to Sungai Banat road project in Perlis worth RM47.8 million between Nov 26, 2021 and Dec 2 last year.

He received the money under a CIMB Bank account belonging to Syarikat Bayu Bumiraya Sdn. Bhd. as the company director.

Adam Radlan was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act which is punishable under Section 24(1) of the same act.

He is facing up to 20 years' jail and a minimum fine of RM10,000 for each charge.

Yesterday he was also charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on two counts of soliciting and accepting a bribe of RM500,000 in relation to the same programme.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan was also charged in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme for accepting RM6.9 million in bribes from a businessman.
