 Uthaya Sankar taken to Bukit Aman for questioning over social media post



A 50 -year -old man has been arrested after he was believed to have uploaded an insulting message to the Prophet Muhammad SAW on Facebook.

The suspect was arrested in a house in the Taman Sri Muda area, Shah Alam, Selangor on 11 April 2022 at approximately 11.15 am to assist in the investigation.


That man believed to be KAVYAN Writers’ Group founder Uthaya Sankar SB has been taken for questioning at Bukit Aman police headquarters over a post on social media in relation to artiste Iman Zulkarnain.







The artiste added that despite the trying times, he learnt a valuable lesson from it and urged other men “not to take any chances”.

“Think carefully before practising polygamy. Be sure that you can be fair to all your wives including in terms of finances,” Iman was reported as saying.

Following his comments, Uthaya Sankar took to social media and quoted a Hadith,
in relation to practising polygamy.

More than 395 police reports were made

Police are conducting an investigation against the owner of the Facebook account 'Uthaya Sankar SB' in relation to a post that had elements of insult to the Prophet Muhammad SAW on April 7.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the 50 -year -old suspect was arrested in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam on Monday morning.

“Investigations are made in accordance with Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony or feelings of hostility or detrimental to unity and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network services.

"The remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be made on April 12, 2022," he said in a statement, here today.

Apart from that, the police also confiscated a mobile phone with a sim card which was believed to have been used during the delivery.

In the meantime, the public is reminded not to make any speculations that could interfere with the investigation.
