KUALA LUMPUR, March 7  -- The standard operating procedure (SOP) violation that occurred when a group of visitors showed up unexpectedly during the “RIUH EK!” programme in Ayer Hitam, Johor yesterday was a spontaneous occurrence.

MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCV) said in a statement today that the incident, which subsequently went viral on social media, was not part of the organiser’s itinerary.

“The organiser, along with a People’s Volunteer Corp (RELA) team took immediate action by asking the visitors to leave before dispersing them. The incident happened after the Communications and Multimedia Minister (Tan Sri Annuar Musa) left the event,” the statement read.

MyCV said that, as an agency of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry tasked with the programme, it had given a statement to the police and would leave it to them to determine further action.

“MyCV takes a serious view of safety issues and always stresses the importance of SOP compliance at all events. Specific SOPs are also stipulated for each event involving large crowds to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Following this incident, MyCV would like to apologise and ensure such incidents do not recur. MyCV has also instructed the event organiser to take stricter measures in the future,” it added.
