MAFI allocates RM15 mln for Youth Agropreneur Grant to aid 750 entrepreneurs

GOPENG, March 26 (Bernama) -- The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAFI) aims to help 750 youth entrepreneurs involved in the agriculture and food industry sector through the Youth Agropreneur Grant this year.
Deputy Agriculture and Food Industry Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah said a total of RM15 million has been allocated for this purpose.
"This grant is to assist them to reduce start up costs and to expand agriculture and agrofood projects.
"The assistance offered under the grant is in the form of products of up to RM20,000 for each recipient aged 18 to 40,” he told reporters after officiating the 2022 Perak Youth Roadshow that was also attended by Perak Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Razman Zakaria at the Gopeng Rural Transformation Centre here today.
Ahmad said since the grant was introduced in 2016, a total of RM137.71 million was allocated to benefit 7,699 youth entrepreneurs in the country.
Earlier at the event, Ahmad presented the grants to 73 entrepreneurs in Perak totalling RM1.45 million.
