On Friday, a viraled video shared via the WhatsApp app showed a child being scolded and slapped by a man.
The police are on the hunt for a lorry driver who slapped his stepson in a viral video.
Shah Alam District Deputy Chief of Police, Superintendent Ramsay Anak Embol said, his department received a report related to the incident after a video went viral on social media.
"The report was made by a woman who was the mother of the five-year-old on March 11.
"The victim's mother claimed that her son was beaten by her new husband who is also the stepfather of the victim," he said in a statement on Friday.
He said, the results of the video examination found that the suspect was scolding the victim.
"The suspect also slapped and twisted the victim's hands.
"The victim's mother then defended the victim from being beaten by the suspect by hugging the victim," he said.
According to him, the suspect has been identified and efforts to track down the suspect are underway.
“The suspect was identified as a 30 -year -old local man and efforts to arrest the suspect are underway.
"Investigations are currently underway under Section 31 (1) of the Children Act 2001," he said.
