Continuous rain expected in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 -- The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a continuous rain alert for Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama areas in Perak until today.
In a statement posted on MetMalaysia's Facebook page, its director-general, Muhammad Helmi Abdullah, said this was following the Tropical Depression that was observed in the Sumatera waters was moving to the east approaching the northern peninsula.
“This situation can cause continuous rain and strong winds in the northern state of the peninsula, which can cause floods in low-lying areas,” he said.
