PUTRAJAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Adam today lodged a corruption report against a federal minister in what he said is an “opportunity” for newly minted Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya to show she does not practise favouritism in investigating complaints against anyone.

Lokman, who heads Umno-linked group Suara Rakyat, based his report on a document allegedly showing the transfer of US$741,440 (about RM3.1 million) from a leading engineering company into a bank account bearing the name of the minister.

“We also have his account number,” he told reporters after lodging a report with the anti-graft agency.

“We also hope the attorney-general will take action against the minister if it is true that the funds had been deposited in to his personal account.”

Screenshots of the alleged transaction have been making rounds on the social media, showing US$741,440 (about RM3.1 million) transferred into a bank account on Dec 19, 2017.

The pictures were distributed alongside video clips showing two men having homosexual intercourse, in what appeared to be a hotel room.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he was not aware of the clips.

“I am not aware of this, I just heard so I need to read about it. You (the press) can brief me about it,” he told a press conference which was also attended by Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution.
