KUALA LUMPUR: The King Cup brand canned sardines are not among the products removed from the market under an order from the health ministry.
Marushin Canneries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd’s administrative and human resource manager Josephine Loo clarified this today in a statement.
She said the health ministry’s statement clearly stated that the company’s Mackerel in Tomato Sauce was among the products recalled — not King Cup: Sardines in Tomato Sauce.
A ministry statement yesterday said three brands of canned sardines and three of canned mackerel were found to have worms in them.
As such, the ministry ordered the products to be withdrawn from the market, the statement said.
