Porn played on public LED screen not an accident, say Jakarta police
A large LED screen on Jl. Inskandarsyah in South Jakarta was displaying porn on Friday afternoon, to the shock of some passers-by and the bemusement of others.
JAKARTA: The screening of Japanese porn on a large LED display in South Jakarta on Friday afternoon was done on purpose, according to a preliminary investigation.
"There was negligence and an intentional [act], and we are still investigating the matter," the head of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), Comr. Gen. Ari Dono, said on Sunday, as reported by tribunnews.com.
The footage had been played intentionally by PT. Transito Adiman Jati as the vendor operating the public screen, Ari alleged. Police said they had questioned nine witnesses and confiscated evidence on the indecent footage, which was shown for five minutes on the display near the South Jakarta mayor's office.
Police said they had taken into account the company's statement, which explained that the footage had been shown to passers-by on Friday because their system had been hacked.
"We are just waiting for the investigation. A system will have some protection, but there is negligence [in this case]," Ari said.
PT Transito manager Adrian Wiedarta told kompas.com on Friday that the system had been compromised by a hacker who had sent a virus to the application controlling the display. The company was unable to assume control, as the password had also been taken over by the hacker, Adrian claimed.The South Jakarta administration cut off power to the LED screen following reports from the public on the porn showing a woman and a man involved in sexual intercourse. – Jakarta Post/Asia News Network.
