Crisis over says Terengganu Umno

Umno appears to have averted a crisis in Terengganu, with a state party leader saying that former menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has expressed regret for quitting Umno to protest his forced resignation.
State Umno secretary Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang said Ahmad Said had conveyed his “regrets for his recent actions” to party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak during a phone conversation today, and is expected to retract his resignation from Umno later today.
Bukit Besi assemblyman Roslee Daud had already retracted his announcement to quit Umno, while Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib would retract his later today. Both had followed Ahmad Said out of Umno following his removal.
Tengku Putera was speaking to reporters after attending a lunch gathering for Terengganu BN state assemblymen at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya this afternoon
However, Hulu Besut state assemblyman Nawi Mohamad was absent due to poor health.
At the event, new Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the political turmoil was not "as bad as had been reported previously".
"Many parties attempted to take advantage by painting a negative perception of the incident.
"Whatever you heard was not the actual scenario which transpired. The BN state assemblymen in Terengganu are all united and have no issues," he said.
Tengku Putera said during the meeting earlier, Najib had told the state assemblymen that the problem had almost been resolved.
"The supposed loss of the two state seats, Bukit Besi and Ajil, has been resolved. BN is back to 17 state seats, no issues there," Tengku Putera said.
On Monday, Ahmad Said, the Kijal state assemblymen, announced his decision to exit Umno after being forced to resign as the state MB. He was promptly replaced by Ahmad Razif. – May 14, 2014.
