KOTA KINABALU: In a twist of fate a student spotted the snatch thief, who robbed her of her handphone just the day before, at the very same place where the incident happened.
The 17-year-old student here yelled at the man, which in turn alerted visitors at the commercial area.
From the student’s verbal triade it became evident that the man had snatched her handphone.
Several members of the public sprung into action and apprehended the man before the arrival of the police at about 3.30pm yesterday.
The student was walking around Lintas Plaza when she bumped into the man.
“I can recognised him because he snatched my handphone and he was wearing the same shirt he wore yesterday,” said the girl.
She claimed that the man slapped her twice and hit her in the abdomen after he snatched her handphone.
She lodged a police report the day after the incident and was relieved that the man had been arrested.
Kota Kinabalu city police chief Assist Comm Jauteh Dikun said they had received a report on the incident and were investigating it.
