JOHOR BARU: A group of 30 villagers from Pengerang who were boarding a coach had a shock when several men came in a four-wheel drive and splashed two bags of what was believed to be acid to the vehicle before speeding away today.
The villagers were boarding the coach after filing an application for a judicial review at the High Court at Menara Cyberport over a notice by the Kota Tinggi district office asking them to relocate their ancestors' graves to a new site.
It is learnt that a Toyota Hilux was moving slowly by the side of the coach before the front and rear passengers threw a bag of liquid each onto the bus' body at about 9.45am.
However, no one was injured in the incident.
Following the incident, the driver drove the coach to the Johor Baru Selatan district police headquarters to lodge a report.
The driver also brought with him the two bags believed to be used in the acid splash.
Part of the newly-painted bus body with the wordings "Malaysia Truly Asia" was corroded as a result of the acid-splashing incident.
Meanwhile, Johor police chief Datuk Mokhtar Shariff confirmed that a report had been lodged and police are investigating the case.
