Sister of Malaysian woman held captive leaves for London

JELEBU: The sister of a Malaysian woman who was allegedly held captive by the leaders of a 1970s Communist “collective” for 30 years in London, left for England tonight to identify the victim.\

According to the victim's brother-in-law, Md Noh Md Dom, his wife Kamar Mahtum Abdul Wahap was accompanied by blogger Hishamuddin Rais who knew Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab, 69, the woman believed to have been held captive, would be in London to identify and bring back the victim to Malaysia.

"Hishamuddin came to my house and asked my wife to accompany him to London so as to bring Aishah back. I was made to understand that they will be on a Malaysia Airlines flight that leaves at 11.55pm tonight," he told reporters when met at his house in Kampung Binjai, here, tonight.

Md Noh who has never met Aishah said his wife had taken identification documents, personal belongings of the victim and photographs to ease the process of identification.

He said he married Kamar Mahtum in 1970 and her family members had tried to trace Aishah's whereabouts but failed because Aishah refused to come back and turned away requests for her to return home.

Md Noh said he was told that Aishah was pursuing her studies in London but never came back.

"Siti Aishah who is the 11th of 12 siblings was said to be disappointed after her engagement did not work out and since then she disappeared without a trace," he said.

Siti Aishah is believed to be one of three women freed on Oct 25 in London after one of them secretly contacted a charity and the other two are a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 30-year-old Briton. -- BERNAMA
