KUALA LUMPUR: For the family of 48-year-old Lee Kah Ghee, his senseless death was hard to grasp.
His three children held up banners at his funeral in Segambut yesterday, saying that “our father died needlessly. Please give him a path to justice”.
Lee, a stationery supplier, had been the primary breadwinner of his family.
His 20-year-old son had reportedly started university just two months ago, while his younger siblings are still in secondary school.
But tragedy struck last Thursday when a 26-year-old cigarette delivery man ran amok near the Taman Melati LRT station.
The man, who is now remanded until Oct 31, had gone around stabbing four people, killing two of the victims.
Lee was the owner of the van which was rammed into by the suspect.
When Lee got out of his vehicle, the suspect stabbed him.
Yesterday, Lee’s grieving children also held up another banner which stated that “the Lee family wants justice to be returned to Lee Kah Ghee”.
The police, led by Sentul OCPD ACP Zakaria Pagan, were among the mourners attending Lee’s funeral.
“We send our deepest condolences to the Lee family for their loss,” said ACP Zakaria.
He said that investigations were ongoing and that a medical report from Kuala Lumpur Hospital would reveal whether the suspect was under the influence of drugs when he went on the stabbing spree.
