Manchester United have won the English FA Community Shield by beating Wigan Athletic 2-0.
Van Persie has given new manager David Moyes the perfect start in the Scot’s first competitive game at the club since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson.
The first goal in the 6th minute was through a lobbing header from star striker Robin Van Persie. He latched onto the end of a Patrice Evra cross to head the ball past new Wigan goalkeeper Scott Carson.

Van Persie scored his second goal in the 59th minute with a low shot to the left of the post but it took a deflection from James Birch and went in to the right of the goalkeeper.
