Ramadan " Buka Puasa " Review @ Westin KL

We had the first buka puasa for 2013 at the Westin Kuala Lumpur. The Westin KL tried to create a persian ambiance to the place by having a persian corner in the lower lobby area, selling persian & pakistani arts & crafts and carpets.

The Ramadan buffet spread was truly memorable, not only did they have a wonderful, tasty and extensive spread but the sight of seeing over 50 orphans enjoying the buffet was very heart warming.

The Westin KL hosted about 50 orphans and homeless children for their first buka puasa. Many guest to the hotel were visibly taken up by the humbling moment of watching this very well mannered children line up to take their food. Unlike the adults they didn't fill their plate with food they just took one or two dishes with plain white rice. It taught the adults not to stuff their plate with food when breaking fast.

The buffet prepared by Chef Hamdan and his team was excellent.

Guest broke their fast with Zam Zam water and Dates, while being entertained by a Ghazal Band. The buffet had several live cooking stations thus showcasing about 101 different types of dishes. Among, the Live cooking stations were the Tandoori Corner (loved great little murtabaks and huge tandoori prawns), the pasta station, the grilled seafood section, the noodle section and Asian live cooking corner. Many must try Malay favourite dishes were part of the buffet. The Desert section showcased most of the main malay deserts, ice kacang and bubur.

My personal favourite was the paru paru, i never had that before, but Chef Hamdan made the dish so well it was like eating wagyu beef!

Verdict: Highly Recommended!
