Shila Amzah made Malaysia proud by performing at the Chinese Idol.
Shila Amzah continues to fly the Malaysian flag in China like no other has done. She is truly a great ambassador of Malaysia to China.
Althought it has been 9 months since Shila Amzah made us proud by winning the Asian Wave 2012 Competition in China, the memory of her performances still lingers on
Shila won the competition by unanimous vote, after performing 3 songs (on Final Rounds) in 3 languages (Malay, English and Mandarin). In the preliminary rounds she sang Set Fire to the Rain by Adele, her performance stunned the judges. At one stage, one judge was caught in two minds to vote for the singer from his own country or for stunning Shila.

During the early stages of the competition Shila gave tribute to her father a top singer in the 80's ND Lala several times even doing a touching number with him on stage singing a touching number Budi dan Jasa. It was a touching performance between father and daughter. In fact during the early stages the Singer from China was leading the competition with over 140,000 voted and Sheila had over 69,000 votes. The Media in China started to notice and wrote that only Shila could be the stumbling block to the Chinese singers aspiration to win the competition. Shila did the impossible coming from behind to win the competition.

Shila Amzah charmed the judge and audience in China by her confidence, poise and style. In the final round Shila sang three songs Gemilang in Round One, Grenade By Bruno Mars in Round 2 and for her final song she sang a Mandarin number Zheng Fu (Conquering) by Na Ying which had almost all the judges standing.and dancing. They were clearly in awe of her singing. When she finished the number the host exclaimed" Wow, Oh my God!"

Famed Chinese composer Gao Xiaosong, praised her performance, saying: “You gave me goosebumps. You broke my heart.” Shila could not control her emotions when she received a standing ovation from the audience. Canto pop King and head judge Alan Tam handed her the trophy. The panel of judges who were made up of the region's top artistes were K-pop star Lee Min-woo,Japan's bossa nova queen Lisa Ono, Malaysian singer-composer Eric Moo and Hong Kong celebrity Hacken Lee, also sprang from their seats to give her a standing ovation as Shila choked back her tears.
Her father is non other 1980s pop singer Amir Hamzah Salleh who is better known as ND Lala. He beamed with pride as watched his daughter on stage.
Seeing her sing her final song Zheng Fu and Budi dan Jasa in the competition brings me to tears every single time. The awards ceremony were postponed from 22 December 2012 to Spring 2013, due to logistic and immigration issues.
In 2012, Sheila also won the award for the Best Female Artist at the Anugerah Planet Muzik which are the awards that awards artists who are engaged in the music world.from Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Datuk Siti Nurhaliza binti Tarudin is a singer, songwriter, record producer, television presenter and businesswoman.
Since her debut, she has won a number of international singing competitions. She had been crowned as Voice of Asia in 2002 after winning the Grand Prix Champion title at the Voice of Asia singing competition which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. A few years earlier, in 1999 she had won Gold Award in Asia New Singer Competition at Shanghai Asia Music Festival, held in Shanghai,People's Republic of China. Also, in the same year, she had won two awards from 'South Pacific International Song and Singing Competition 1999' held in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
To date, she has garnered more than 200 local awards as well as international awards. In her career she has recorded and sung in multiple languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, Basa Jawa, English, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi and Japanese.
She has been voted for Regional Most Popular Artiste ten times in a row beating other fellow artists from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore in the Anugerah Planet Muzik since 2001. Currently, she has been listed as one of Malaysia's richest, most-influential, most award-winning, most single-produced artists. She's also one of Malaysia's best selling artists, for in 2000, her album sales alone contributed to 10 percent of Malaysia's total album sales. To date, she has sold more than 4 million in record sales.
In 2005 she was listed second by MTV Asia in Asia's Best Musical Artiste and Channel V's Biggest Asian Artiste. In 2008, she was named as one of Asia's Idol by Asia News Network. Her success in the Asian region has gained her honorific titles including "Voice of Asia" and "Asia's Celine Dion"

Yuna's meteoric rise in the Malaysian indie music scene is largely due to the strong following she gained via Myspace. Having played at many gigs since the release of her Demo, EP and then two local albums, she is now focusing on promoting and performing music on her debut US Album.Yuna also will be a part of Lollapalooza 2012 line up.
Yuna describes her music as "a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay". In 2008, she released her self-titled EP which become a massive hit in Malaysia most notably the single 'Deeper Conversation'.
Yuna was the first runner-up of MTV Iggy's Best New Bands in the World. She performed at the historic MTV Studios in Times Square New York singing "Decorate", "Come As You Are", "Lullabies" which is produced by Chris Braide and her new single "Live Your Life", which is produced by Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D.
Yuna recently signed with Verve Music Group. Multiple Grammy-winning producer David Foster, who heads the creative operations of Verve, tweeted: "I'm really excited about the next hot artist to join Verve Music. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for Yuna in 2013"
