PKR election: Fahmi wins uncontested, Afdlin Shauki defeats Nik Nazmi

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has defended the Lembah Pantai PKR branch chief here, after winning the position uncontested.

He, who is also the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, retains the position for the second consecutive term from 2025 to 2028.

The Lembah Pantai branch has 653 members who are eligible to vote.

Other branch leaders who also won uncontested in the Federal Territory are Azman Abidin in Bandar Tun Razak; Muhammad Fikri Khalid @ Abdul Aziz (Putrajaya) and Simsudin Sidek (Labuan).

Meanwhile, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, was unexpectedly defeated by director and actor, Datuk Afdlin Shauki, in the race for the position of PKR Setiawangsa Branch Chief.

Nik Nazmi, who is also the party's vice-president, failed to defend his position after only being able to secure 563 votes.

Afdlin defeated the Setiawangsa MP with a majority of 68 votes after obtaining 631 votes.

A total of 1,207 ballot papers were issued in the election while a total of 1,640 PKR members were eligible to vote for the branch in question.
