KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Prisons Department has denied rumors that former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will receive 'special treatment' in Kajang Prison.
In an upload on Facebook, the Malaysian Prisons Department called for an end to the spread of fake news related to the matter.
Earlier, allegations spread on social media that Najib might receive VIP treatment in Kajang Prison after the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence in relation to the SRC International Sdn Bhd fund embezzlement case, on Tuesday.
A Facebook account owner claimed that a prison or detention cell for VIPs is not the same as a normal prison cell and the access possibilities are greater than that of a civilian's house.
So far, Astro AWANI is trying to get a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and the Malaysian Prisons Department for further information regarding the allegations
