Five-year-old boy who survived three-vehicle crash in critical condition






ALOR SETAR: The five-year-old boy who was injured in a three-vehicle accident on Wednesday after a family argument is in critical condition.

State Health Department director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail said the boy is being treated at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries and three broken ribs leading to lung injuries.

Dr Norhizan said on Thursday that he also sustained injuries to his face, legs and hands in the accident.

On Wednesday afternoon, a quarrel between a husband and wife led to a car chase that ended in an accident involving three vehicles.


The husband chased his wife who had their five-year-old child in the car through town.

Dr Norhizan said the woman suffered head injuries and broke her right hand, but is in a stable condition.

The husband sustained light injuries and has been warded for observation.

It was reported that during the incident, the husband got out of his car, stomped to his wife’s car and started scolding her and kicking her car while they were stopped at a traffic light junction.

The wife sped off when the light turned green and the chase continued, ending when the husband tried to ram his car into his wife’s car near a restaurant in Kampung Titi Besar.

She lost control of the car and crashed. The husband also lost control of his vehicle and rammed into another car.

The other car was driven by a Royal Malaysian Air Force member, his wife and child.

According to Dr Norhizan, the Air Force personnel has since regained consciousness and is in stable a condition despite sustaining fractures to his face.
