Police cordons off Subang Parade, explosions heard, but it was “just a drill”

Residents of Subang Jaya were in shocked upon seeing policemen cordoning a shopping mall in the heart of the town and sounds of explosions heard this morning. However, the public need not worry as it was only a drill by the police.



 Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Ramli confirmed the scene was a part of the drill when contacted. “It was just a training,” he said. District police control room’s spokesman when contacted said the training had started since 8am and involves cordoning the area and temporary road diversion. “Measures has been taken to avoid traffic. However, it was only training so the public should not worry...” he said. 

Asked on how long the training was going to take, he said there was no time frame set but the drill is expected to end soon. The scene had gained interest from passers-by at the area. 

Facebook user Kamarul Drahman posted “Subang Parade totally cordoned off by PDRM (police)...Anyone knows what’s happening?” followed by another status posted just four minutes later, “Heard two explosions, PDRM bomb squad just destructed something.” Meanwhile, Twitter user Amirul Fabris using tweethandle ‏@fabmrtti posted” Whats going on in Subang Parade?”
