Malaysia to hold memorial service to remember MH17 victims

IPOH: Malaysia will hold a memorial service in Kuala Lumpur next month to remember those perished in the gunning down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 last July.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said he would be presenting a report on the matter to the Cabinet on Wednesday before finalising the actual date and other details of the event.
"The Netherlands as well as Australia will also be holding separate memorial services next month.
"Malaysia Airlines is willing to fly the families of victims to the Netherlands for its memorial service on July 17 should they want to attend," he said after opening the 10,000 Smiles mass yoga session held at SJKC Bercham here.
All 298 people on board the flight were killed, with citizens from 11 countries dying in the disaster.
The plane is believed to have been shot down with a surface-to-air missile launched by pro-Russian forces in Ukrainian territory, but Russia has denied this.
The Netherlands whose citizens made up almost two-thirds of the victims is leading an international investigation into the disaster and has vowed to prosecute those responsible.
