King receives new US ambassador credentials


KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, today received the credentials of the United States' new ambassador to Malaysia Joseph Y. Yun and presented the letter of appointment to Malaysia's new ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, at the Istana Negara.

Also present at the event was the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
Tuanku Abdul Halim also received the credentials of nine other envoys. They are Cho Byungjae of North Korea; Yazkuli O. Mammedov of Turkmenistan; Holger Wilfred Michael of Germany; Harry Molenaar of the Netherlands; Basim Hatab Habash Al-Tumma of Iraq; Saad Abdullah Saleh Al-Sousi of Kuwait; Daniyar Sarekenov of Kazakhstan; Dr Alpha Diallo of Guinea and Christophe Ceska of Austria.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also presented the letter of appointment to Datuk Naimun Ashakli Mohammad, who has been made the new high commissioner to India.
Naimun was the Foreign Ministry's chief of protocol while Zahrain is the former MP for Bayan Baru in Penang. -- BERNAMA
