Another Twist In Zayn Rayyan's Case When Grandparent's arrested on Wednesday afternoon

The lawyer for the father of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, Fahmi Abdul Moin, said the defense was informed about the arrest of the child's grandparents at about 3pm on Wednesday.

According to Fahmi, he received a call from grandfather Zayn telling him that he and his wife were being taken to the District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Fahmi, when contacted by Astro AWANI, said that his side would object to the arrest order, but would have to wait for tomorrow (Thursday) to get more information after their statements were taken by the police.

Fahmi explained, for now, his party was only told that the arrest was to help the investigation on Zayn Rayyan's parents.

"PDRM will take statements from Zayn Rayyan's grandparents. If it cannot be completed within 24 hours until tomorrow, they will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"The remand period will only be known tomorrow and our side will be present to object to the remand application," said Fahmi.

According to him, the objection on what grounds could not be stated because there was no clear explanation why the arrest of the two individuals was made.

"Tomorrow everything will be known in court, from the police's investigation, why they should be detained and remanded. Based on that reason, our side will make an objection," said Fahmi.

The media previously reported that Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, confirmed that Zayn Rayyan's grandparents were arrested by the police at a location near Subang Bestari, Shah Alam in Selangor.

Their detention under Section 302 of the Penal Code is to assist the investigation, and they will be remanded tomorrow at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court, tomorrow (Thursday).

The fate of Zayn Rayyan's parents, who were remanded for 13 days to assist in the investigation into the child's murder, will be known tomorrow, whether they will be charged or released on police bail.
