KUALA LUMPUR: Two robbers took a lecturer on a terrifying ride after holding him at knife-point in Batu Caves, earlier today.
The 7am incident started when the 59-year-old man was about to get into his Honda Accord which was parked in front of his house.
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad said the victim was approached by two men.
One of them put a knife to his neck and ordered him to get inside the car.
"The second robber then searched for valuables in the vehicle, and took the victim's wallet which contained RM70.
"Not satisfied with the small amount of cash, the robbers asked their victim for more cash but he told them that was all he had in hand," he said.
The criminals then ordered the lecturer to drive his car to the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), where they stopped at a petrol station.
He was then forced to contact his son for more money. Upon receiving the call, the son, worried for his father's life, immediately transferred RM1,000 to the victim's bank account.
Ali said after the money was transferred, the robbers then ordered the victim to withdraw it from an automated-teller machine at the petrol station.
One of the robbers then took the victim's other ATM card, and used it to withdraw the same amount.
"While his accomplice was inside the petrol station, the other robber asked the victim to drive towards Jalan Ampang and continued to Bukit Jalil.
"They then made a U-turn and headed back to MRR2, picking up his accomplice at a traffic light near the UIA Gombak exit," he said.
The victim was then ordered to make a stop not far from the traffic light. He was then forced to take off his shirt, socks and shoes.
One of the suspects then grabbed the lecturer and took him to some bushes for an unknown reason.
However, the victim, sensing danger ran for his life.
Ali said the victim managed to flee from the suspect, who gave chase for a short while before returning to the car and fleeing the scene.
The victim then managed to call his son and went to a nearby police station to make a report at about 11.30am.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
