In UK divorce trial, ex-beauty queen reveals tycoon hubby’s toilet habits

The much publicised divorce battle between a Malaysian couple turned personal when , purportedly working.
Pauline Chai Siew Phin, the Miss Malaysia/International 1969, was quoted by the Huffington Post UK telling the judge that business magnate Khoo Khay Peng (pic) would spend "hours" reading and working while sitting on the toilet.
“He will sit on the toilet for four hours and read and do his work. And he got backache there, so I got the idea of the padded toilet seat,” she told the Family Division of the High Court in London.
The court is soon expected to decide if it would continue to hear the couple’s divorce or refer them to a Malaysian court.
The pair, who are from Malaysia and married more than 40 years ago, are fighting over the location of the final trial.
Laura Ashley boss Khoo, 75, wants a judge in Malaysia to make decisions, while Chai, 67, favours the English court, citing their move to their home in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, before separating in 2013.
If the case is dealt by the English court, Khoo stands to lose half his fortune amounting to £500 million (RM2.75 billion).
Hufftington Post UK reported that Justice Bodey is expected to make rulings on jurisdiction after hearing legal argument and evidence from both sides.
It has been reported that that the pair, who have five children, have already run up legal bills of more than £2 million.
Justice Holman was quoted by Huffington Post UK as saying that Khoo owned a ''chunk'' of Laura Ashley and had properties in England and Malaysia worth more than £50 million.
He added that Chai stood to gain tens of millions of pounds for the part she had played in their 42-year ''matrimonial partnership''. – October 3, 2014.
