KUALA SELANGOR: A convict was shot dead by police following a high-speed chase in Ijok Tuesday.
In the 8.20am incident, the 34-year-old man had resisted arrest when a team of police on patrol attempted to stop the vehicle he was driving.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said a 20km high-speed chase ensued from Sungai Pelong to Ijok.
"A control centre in Sungai Buloh received a call informing that a lorry has been stolen.                                                                         
“However, the lorry, which was driven by the suspect was detected near Sungai Buloh.
"As soon as the suspect noticed the presence of the police, he sped off to an oil palm plantation at KM28 but was cornered.
"That was when he reversed the lorry to ram the patrol car, forcing the cops to fire a shot," he said.
SAC Adnan said the thief was pronounced dead by a medical team.

Checks by police revealed that the suspect had just been charged at the Petaling Jaya court five days ago for auto theft.
The body has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem
