WORLD AIRPORTS AWARD 2013 - KLIA DROPS TO #14, IMMIGRATION SERVICES - #1

Kuala Lumpur International Airport dropped from 8th in 2012 to 14th in 2013 in Skytrax ranking of The World Top Airports. From being one of the Worlds best airports, KLIA has continued to go down the rankings, as our neighbouring Singapore's Changi Airport  went from 2nd in 2012 to first in 2013. Changi Airport has always maintained it's position as one of the best airports in the World.

South Korea's Incheon International Airport swapped places with Singapore's Changi Airport dropping to second place, Amsterdam Schipol Airport took 3rd place although it was name Europe's Best Airport.

As Malaysia goes up the rankings as one of the most visited destination in the World, the Government needs to look at the reasons for this decline at the main point of entry to Malaysia. With the amount of money spent by Malaysia Airports Berhad on KLIA we should be in the Worlds Top 10 list. In Asia, KLIA was placed a dismal 7th.

Skytrax award is among the most respected and trusted Airport Awards.

"We Guarantee the World Airport Awards are totally free of any commercial
influence or bias, and no airport in the study can exert any influence on the
results. Airports do not pay to be included in this global study, and the awards
are respected and recognised as the most prestigious accolades for the world
airport industry." said Edward Plaisted, SKYTRAX

The results are based on 12 million passenger surveys completed in a 10-month
survey period, covering over 388 airports. The survey evaluates the total
passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from
arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding
gate.  Since 1999, this annual airport customer survey has been respected
for clarity and independence, with no airport influence or bias. The World
Airport Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence, known as the
Passenger's Choice Awards.

KLIA would have gone unnoticed at the award if not for our Immigration
Department as it won the Best Airport Immigration Service in the World.
Travellers usually dread having to deal with rude immigration officers,
Malaysian Immigration winning the best immigration service is certainly a
feather in the cap and a feat to be proud of. Other than the Immigration
Services win, KLIA didn't even come out in the top 5 of any category of the
world awards.

KLIA's Airport staff was placed 7th in the world and 4th in Asia under
Best Airport Staff Category
