Tujo Bar-sserie & Grill has just opened in Mid May replacing the former 7atenine restaurant & bar!

The new brand name and logo of Tujo

The number 7 must have a special meaning to F&B Moguls Fred & Michelle of the notable Soul Society Group which owns Souled Out and WIP, when they named their new restaurant Tujo replacing the old 7atenine! The new Tujo restaurant is at the prestigious 5 Star Ascott Residence located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur beside the iconic KLCC.

Tujo's offerings is encompassed in it's tagline EAT * PLAY* LIVE, A playground in heart of KL where one can Eat, Play and Live. The new Tujo is open seven days a week, from 6am - Till Closing. At Tujo they have created a playground where one can enjoy the simple pleasures in life with good friends, over good food, drinks and have loads of fun.

The interior design of Tujo was conceived by renowned designer Ed Poole who was inspired by Danish 1960's modern design for the new place in town. Modo Chandeliers that look like the solar system light up Tujo!. The restaurant has a patio for diners who like to sit outdoor. Tujo has a modern but cosy ambiance. The chairs are comfortable to sit and on and the new place looks extremely spacious as the bars that used to be in the middle have now been moved to the end of the restaurant.

The sound of funky soulful tunes greet you as you enter Tujo. Most of the staff at Tujo have been retained from 7atenine, so regulars should be warmly greeted as before. The service staff here are one of the finest and you can expect good if not fabulous service at Tujo! Like any new place, the staff here are well trained &ever ready to guide you with the new menu while making recommendations if required to do so.

Tujo's Menu uniquelycomes in the same size as the "The Star" newspaper, it is mostly made up of "Comfort Food" or "Feel Good Food". The menu offers some new selections while retaining the crowds favourites from the 7atenine days. They have a wide selection of Soups & Salads, Main Course's, Pasta's, Pizza, Sandwiches, Bar Snacks and Deserts, A new addition that is bound to be a favourite, must be the "From the Grill Menu of Seafood, Chicken, Beef and Lamb". Tujo's menu aims to make diners walk away with a Satisfied Belly Syndrome!

The menu is littered with general knowledge information, so while waiting for the food we ordered, we gained some new knowledge at the same time.

Do you know why the Chinese developed the custom of using chop sticks? It's because they didn't need anything resembling a fork and knife at the table. They cut up food into bite-sized pieces in the kitchen itself before serving it. This stemmed from their belief that bringing meat to the table in any form resembling an animal, was uncivilised and that it was inhospitable, anyway, to ask a guest to cut food while eating. I had to share this.....So now you know!

The favourite starters must be the Mutton Varuval (which was a 7atenine speciality) which is now served with Chapati on the side & Calamari Rings. These two dishes, are simply  one of the best in Kuala Lumpur. It's a must have dish when you are here.

Venison Roll

Chicken Wings

Smoked Duck

The famous Mutton Varuval

The Main Course: From the Grill we tried the Salmon and Lamb Shoulder, while from the main course menu we tried the lamb shank and seafood risotto. All didn't disappoint.and were extremely tasty.

Seafood Risotto

Lamb Shank

Lamb Shoulder Chops

Sauteed Cream Spinach

Deserts: Tujo does not have an extensive desert menu and i had wondered why when i was going through the menu. Later the answer dawned upon me, once you have gone through the delicious appetisers, snacks and main course, there's simply not enough room for deserts. However, a must have on the Desert menu is the Salted Caramel Apple Guava Tart and the Rocky Road Brownie.

Rocky Road Brownie

Apple Banana Sundae

Like all the restaurants under the Soul Society Group, the food at Tujo was simply fabulous. The sudden silence at our table was deafening,  as we polished off the starters and main course. After that we simply has no room for desert.. However the deserts looked so delicious that we made some room for it,

Tujo promises diners "Delicious Drinks". They have a few award winning mixologists that come up with an extensive number of cocktails and shooters! The drinks menu is extensive and offers diners detox drinks, juices, cocktails, mocktails, beers, flavoured liquors, spirits, champagnes to the  best wines. Flavoured tea and coffee are also available.

Verdict: Tujo is a must visit restaurant.  They have an extensive menu that easily appeals to all.. You can expect excellent and friendly service from the staff. We only tasted one percent of what was on the menu, so looks like we are going to have to go back there soon ourselves!.
