Fired by UMNO: Zaharin vows to continue to attack, expose Zahid Hamidi's 'political evil'

KUALA LUMPUR: Blogger, Datuk Zaharin Mohd Yasin, one of the strong critics of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who was expelled from UMNO membership last night, insisted that his mouth and hands will not stop exposing the 'political evil' that he claims the UMNO President did.
The UMNO head of the Sri Labuan Public Housing Project (PPA) branch, who was once the UMNO Secretary of Tun Razak's Bandar Division, claimed that he had never received any show cause letter or appeared before the UMNO Disciplinary Board before his dismissal.
Although the action has already been taken, Zaharin or popularly known as Sang Kelembai, insists that the dismissal will instead boost his spirit to continue to invite the people of various races to reject Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO under the leadership of Ahmad Zahid.
"In terms of the jurisdiction of the UMNO Supreme Working Council, the word fired is not accurate because I did not receive any reason and was also brought before the Disciplinary Board.
"In fact, my UMNO division in the Bandar Tun Razak Parliament never made a decision and proposed an official complaint to the Secretary-General's Office for me to take disciplinary action," he said through a statement on Facebook, today.
Elaborating on UMNO's decision, he said, his mouth and hands will not stop criticizing political evil simply because he was eliminated as an UMNO member.
Last night, the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting decided to dismiss Zaharin from the party with immediate effect, in accordance with Clause 10.6 read together with Clause 5.9.
The action announced by UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, was taken after the head of the UMNO branch was found to have violated the Ethics of UMNO Members under Clause 20.9 of the UMNO Constitution.
Zaharin described the decision of his dismissal as more a personal act of Ahmad Zahid and the supporters of the UMNO President, which he considered to be a 'quick decision'.
"What is the purpose (dismissal)? To shut my mouth and stop my hands from writing political evil by the president," he said, informing that he would not appeal the decision as in the first and second dismissals before.
Zaharin was dismissed from UMNO in 1996 when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was acting party president and was reinstated in 1998. The second dismissal was in 2006 when UMNO was led by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi before being reinstated in 2009.
"The same is the case this third time. I will not appeal, instead I am grateful to the UMNO MKT Member for removing me as a UMNO member. It (gave) me the freedom to write and give my opinion.
"After 52 years of supporting UMNO. As a left-wing cadre, I know and am aware that UMNO is a party that defends the capitalist system, dominated by the political elite and the nobility, a system that I have been defending all this time.
"Now that I am not a member of that party, I am no longer interested in fighting on the right. So my choice in finding a platform for the struggle in the future, if I want to contribute to the struggle of the people, will be to choose a party that is on the left," he said.
He, who also commented on UMNO's action through a live broadcast on his Facebook last night, admitted that he was not saddened by his party's decision.
"I'm not even sad when I get fired, I've already fought. For a while, I didn't join any party.
"I accept this dismissal with an open heart. This dismissal is actually like the sprouts of the future ulam," he said.
Zaharin also claimed that several leaders and friends in PKR informed Anwar to propose his name to run in the Bandar Tun Razak Parliament.
"If Anwar does not contest, they told me that the person who can replace him in Bandar Tun Razak is me. I am not interested, but if there is pressure from the opposition leadership, I will try to consider it.
"If I contest on the PH (Pakatan Harapan) ticket, through PKR, I can win because I have many followers in Bandar Tun Razak," he said.
