PUTRAJAYA: The Royal Floria Putrajaya 2022, showcasing flowering plants from various species and cultivars as well as ornamental plants, has been extended to Tuesday (Sept 6) instead of ending on Sunday (Sept 4) due to a very encouraging response from the public.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) director of Park Planning and Development Division, Landscape Department, Haslinda Khalid said the two-day extension will give more people a chance to visit the festival during the school holidays.
"Since the Royal Floria Putrajaya 2022 was opened on Aug 29, it has received a very encouraging response. On Wednesday, in conjunction with the National Day holiday, the festival received a steady stream of visitors until night.
"From the original date (Sept 4), we decided to extend the festival for two more days to encourage Keluarga Malaysia (the Malaysian Family) to come together with their family members in conjunction with the school holidays," Haslinda told the media here today, adding that the extension was also a request from the Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
"We are arranging for additional activities and programmes for the two days, so even if the flowers here wither, we will replace them," she said, elaborating that visitors, contractors and traders welcomed the decision to extend the duration of the festival.
Located in Anjung Floria, Precinct 4 here, there are about 10,000 orchids and 400,000 plants of various species on display there.
The Royal Floria Putrajaya 2022 will also showcase the Malaysian Family Garden programme, with the concept based of the three values contained in Keluarga Malaysia, namely inclusiveness, togetherness and gratitude.
Among the components in the festival are the Malaysian Family Garden, Taman Koboi and Sukulen, Taman Instagrammable, Hiasan Dinding Orkid and Terowong Oncidium.
Entry fee is RM15 for adults, RM5 (senior citizens, and children aged seven to 12), and foreign tourists (RM100).
