Malaysia logs slight dip in COVID-19 cases at 2,417

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health (MOH) registered a total of 2,417 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Monday (July 11), taking the overall total to 4,598,391 cases since the pandemic began.

Based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal, there were four imported cases while a total of 2,413 were local transmissions.

The COVID-19 log as of yesterday showed Selangor leading with 884 infections recorded, followed by Kuala Lumpur (642), Perak (166), Sabah (164), Negeri Sembilan (138) and Penang (112).

Several states reported a two-digit number of cases namely; Malacca (66), Johor (59), Kedah (41), Putrajaya (37), Sarawak (30), Kelantan (28), Pahang (28), Terengganu (15), while Labuan detected six cases and Perlis had one.

Currently, active cases in the country stood at 35,758.

The Health Ministry discharged a total of 2,536 recovered patients, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,526,817.

According to MOH, there are 1,164 COVID-19 patients who are hospitalised, with 48 of them in the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, a total of five deaths were registered on Monday with two confirmed as as being brought-in-dead.

Malaysia's death toll has reached 35,816 as of last night.
