KUALA LUMPUR: Former aide of Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman, who was caught on CCTV recording an upskirt video of a woman at an optical shop in Solaris Dutamas has been arrested by police.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner R Munusamy said the man, in his 30s, was arrested at a restaurant in Solaris Dutamas at 1pm. Munusamy said the man was expected to be remanded tomorrow.

Earlier, City police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said police had opened an investigation in relation to the case. The case was being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Last night in a statement, Azis said the aide had been sacked with immediate effect.

A one-minute-47-second- video depicting the incident had gone viral on social media since yesterday.

The woman has since lodged a police report over the incident. In her report, the woman said she was conducting an eye test on the minister in the shop at 11am, and minister’s aide was hovering behind her.

“The man (aide) was behaving suspiciously and I felt uncomfortable with his actions,” she said. As she turned to look at a screen next to her, she noticed that the man was holding a mobile phone.

“After reviewing the CCTV footage later, I saw that the man had placed his phone under my skirt and recorded a video,” she said in her police report. © New Straits Times Press
