PM Anwar receives a visit from Indian music legend Ilaiyaraaja

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a visit from Indian music legend, maestro Ilaiyaraaja at his office today.
In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister said he was honoured to receive the visit of the renowned composer who will hold a mega concert in the capital tomorrow, and the two discussed the need to strengthen the arts and culture diplomacy ties between Malaysia and India.
"We also uncovered old stories related to the film and music industry in India that had a huge impact on fans in Malaysia.
"I also informed him that Malaysia will continue to appreciate and uplift arts and culture which is a symbol of the diversity and harmony that we have celebrated together over the years," he said.
Anwar also wished Ilaiyaraaja good luck for the concert to be held at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil and hoped that it would be another historic moment in the veteran Tamil music director's artistic journey.
After three years, Ilaiyaraaja returned to Malaysia to entertain local fans through the mega concert Raaja Rhapsody. Known as the "encyclopedia of living music", the 82-year-old legend will amaze listeners with songs that span generations.
Raaja Rhapsody will feature a grand orchestra that brings together more than 60 professional musicians from India and Budapest, Hungary.
In fact, for the first time in history, the epic musical ensemble will be led by Ilaiyaraaja himself on the Malaysian stage.
