Fight at SKVE, man arrested with 2 drug records

KUALA LUMPUR: A man in his 50s was arrested today for allegedly being involved in a fight on the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) that went viral on social media.
Sepang District Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Shan Gopal Krishnan said the arrest was made following a report from the victim received yesterday. According to him, a check found that the suspect had two drug-related records.
"We are investigating this case under Section 279 of the Penal Code, namely rash or reckless driving, which provides for a prison sentence of up to six months or a maximum fine of RM2,000," he said in a statement today.
Shan also said that investigations were also being carried out under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing hurt, which can carry a prison sentence of up to one year or a fine not exceeding RM2,000.
The investigation paper will be referred to the Selangor Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office for further action once the investigation is complete.
The incident occurred on April 17, at about 10.25am, when a 22-year-old man driving a Toyota Estima claimed to have been crushed by a Perodua Alza while passing through SKVE from the Kajang to Bangi direction.
The fight broke out when the victim stopped his car and the suspect got out to punch the victim's rear window and face.
The incident was recorded by the victim's car dashboard camera and the 1 minute 15 second video went viral on social media.
