Immigration Department detains 166 foreigners in raid on entertainment outlet in Jalan Sultan Ismail Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR: Immigration detained 166 foreigners in a raid on an entertainment outlet along Jalan Sultan Ismail .
The outlet is believed to have offered guest relation officer (GRO) services.
Paatrons were busy partying when they raided the premises at about 11.30pm on Wednesday (July 6).
Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said some of the GROs and workers tried to flee however 39 officers had cordoned off the area
He said the outlet has been in operation since June 5 providing GRO services with charges ranging between RM100 and RM1,000.
“The foreigners detained are 133 Thai women, nine Thai men, 12 Vietnamese women and a Vietnamese man, two women from Laos, three Indonesian women and six Bangladeshi men.
"They were detained for various offences, including overstaying and not having valid identification documents.
