ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 14 -- Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today attended the opening ceremony of the Third Session of the 14th Johor State Legislative Assembly at Sultan Ismail Building in Kota Iskandar, here.
The ceremony was graced by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
It is indeed a historic day for the Johor State Legislative Assembly as Muhyiddin, who is also Gambir assemblyman, attended the sitting for the first time as Prime Minister.
Muhyiddin arrived at the Sultan Ismail Building at 8.30 am and was welcomed by Menteri Besar Datuk Ir Hasni Mohamad.
Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president was sworn in as the country’s 8th Prime Minister on March 1 following the unsolved political turmoil in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government which saw Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as Prime Minister and Bersatu left the coalition.
In the 2018 general election, Muhyiddin, apart from winning the Pagoh parliamentary seat, also won the Gambir state seat, defeating Barisan Nasional’s candidate Datuk M Asojan and PAS’ Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed.
Muhyiddin was Johor Menteri Besar for nine years from 1986 to 1995.
