PETALING JAYA: PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad stressed that Parliament must function as a check and balance to the Cabinet and Executive, to which Dr Mahathir responded positively.

They also discussed a wide range of issues, specifically on the reform agenda, according to a Facebook post.

“A number of matters were discussed, among others the contemporary issues in and outside the country, and touching upon the agenda of reform and renewal in Parliament that proved productive and positive,” said the post on Anwar’s Facebook page yesteday.

It added that Anwar met with Dr Mahathir after Friday prayers in Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, the Malay Mail news portal reported that following the meeting with Dr Mahathir, Anwar said further room should be given to Pakatan leaders to be more vocal about their views.

“I had a lengthy discussion on the 100 days with Tun yesterday and I feel satisfied in general.

“In the discussion, Tun said he is ready to improve any weaknesses at the early stage,” the portal quoted Anwar as saying at the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit XII.

The report added that Anwar was satisfied with Pakatan’s progress as the coalition closed in on its 100-day timeline.
