Embassy issues statement calling post that is being widely circulated on social media a 'fabricated news report'.

PETALING JAYA: The United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has declared as false, a “news” item purportedly showing President Donald Trump signing an executive order allowing visa-free entry into the US for Asian nationals.

The “fake news” has been widely shared by social media users over the past two days.

“A fabricated news report has been circulating in local media regarding visa-free travel to the United States.

“The report claims that President Trump signed an executive order allowing Asian nationals to travel to the United States without a visa. This report is false and unsubstantiated,” the embassy said.

Since Trump’s inauguration last Friday, there has been much coverage on various executive orders that he has signed including on the US withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact, which was one of his campaign promises.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Trump was likely to issue an order that could include a temporary ban on most refugees and a block on any visas at all being issued for people from seven Muslim nations, namely Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
