I will do and serve better – Norza

KUALA LUMPUR: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) today saw Tan Sri Mohd Norza Zakaria assume the position of President to continue leading for the next four years after the position was not challenged in the new term election.
He, who has maintained the position since replacing Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'far in 2018, explained that he wants to provide service and do his best for the Olympic movement in this country.
"I am ready to bring more beneficial programs to Malaysia, modernize sports administration, assist athletes and national sports, and empower sports associations and their membership with MOM from now on," he told delegates who were present after the announcement of the position selection in the national capital today.
He, who is holding the position of President for the third time, will be assisted by Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad (President of the Karate Federation) as Deputy after defeating Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz (President of the Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation) 70 votes to 20.
The Vice President position was won by Azizul Anuar Adenan (President of Taekwondo Malaysia) with 81 votes, followed by Datuk Mohd Sumali Riduan (President of the Sepak Takraw Association of Malaysia) with 80 votes, Datuk Iruan Zulkefli (President of the Malaysian Boxing Federation) with 65 votes, Datuk Chong Kim Fatt (President of the Malaysian Wushu Federation) with 56 votes and Nurul Huda Abdullah (Assistant Secretary of the Malaysian Swimming Federation) with 62 votes.
Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali (Deputy President of the Weightlifting Federation) was appointed Secretary General after winning uncontested.
Arif Astaman (Secretary-General of the National Cycling Association of Malaysia) defeated Melvin Chia (President of the Malaysian Snooker & Billiards Federation) by a vote of 51 to 39 for the position of Men's Assistant Secretary-General accompanied by Moira Tan who won unopposed as Women's Assistant Secretary-General.
Datuk Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin (Vice President of the Malaysian Cricket Association) and Datuk V. Subramaniam (Acting President of the Malaysian Badminton Association) won unopposed for Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
MOM has 54 affiliated members, with 34 of them having regular member status eligible to send representatives to cast their votes for the 2025-2029 election.
