KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Tower building will be temporarily closed starting tomorrow to give space to the new management to carry out maintenance and improvements for the safety and comfort of visitors.
The Ministry of Communications in a statement tonight announced that the reopening date of one of the tallest communications towers in the world will be announced through various media channels.
"The MADANI government, through the Ministry of Communications, insists that the Kuala Lumpur Tower belongs to the government.
"Starting April 1, 2025, the operation, management and maintenance of Menara Kuala Lumpur has been taken over by the company LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM)," according to the statement.
According to the statement, the occupation of the Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB) company on the Menara KL site after March 31, 2025 is illegal.
In this regard, the Federal Land Commissioner has submitted two vacating notices to MKLSB via letters dated 3 and 9 April 2025.
"Therefore, any operations and transactions still carried out by MKLSB to date are without government permission," according to the statement.
On March 31, the Ministry of Communications, through its frequently asked questions (FAQ) regarding the KL Tower management concession, announced that the acquisition of the concession involving KL Tower would not affect operations and employees at the communications tower.
The ministry was reported to have announced that negotiations with the new concessionaire, LSHSM, had outlined terms that would not affect its operations, which would continue as usual.
