ACTRESS Raja Ilya (pic) went through a frightening experience recently following a cat bite, Sinar Harianreported.

It started after Ramadan when her hand swelled after being bitten by her pet cat.

Ilya took a preventive shot on her doctor’s advice, but her condition worsened.

Painful lumps appeared on her body. She was then rushed from a private hospital to University Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment.

During her two-week stay, she had to undergo two surgeries to remove the lumps.

She has a few more surgical procedures left to remove the rest of the lumps, including those on her spine.

“The doctor told me this condition only affects one in a thousand,” she said during the launch of her recent movie KL Vampires.

The actress, who plays the lead role as Raja Citra Sari in the horror film, said she kept her illness away from the media to avoid worrying her family, who are overseas.

> Siti Nuraisyah Sahrin, the 13-year-old who lost both her legs after being run over by a lorry last January, finds comfort and solace by playing the drum set given to her by the Prime Minister, reported Berita Harian.

“I play the drums whenever I feel lonely or if I need to entertain myself,” she said when met at her house in Parit 16, Sungai Besar, Selangor, on Wednesday.

She said playing the drums kept her sadness at bay, especially since she spends most of her time at home following the accident.

“It’s also a form of therapy. I’m really interested in music and I hope to become a professional musician one day,” said the Form One student, who is still undergoing treatment before she can use prosthetic legs.
