KUALA SELANGOR, April 23 — PKR today announced their GE14 candidate list for Selangor, with the highlight being the announcement of former Bersih chief Maria Chin Abdullah as the party's candidate for the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat.
Caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali will defend his parliamentary seat of Gombak and state seat of Bukit Antarabangsa.
The announcement was made by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during a ceramah here today, just a day after it was revealed that there was a rift in PKR in finalising the party's candidate list.
Chin will contest as a direct candidate under PKR despite not joining as a member of the party.
Two-term Seri Andalas assemblyman Xavier Jeyakumar will not be defending his seat and will instead move to the federal level to contest the Kuala Langat parliamentary seat.
Incumbent Kuala Langat MP Datuk Abdullah Sani will move to Kapar, with G. Manivannan not selected to defend the seat.
Leow Hsiad Hui will contest the Hulu Selangor seat, while incumbents Wong Chen (Subang), R. Sivarasa (Sungai Buloh), Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang), and William Leong (Selayang) will all defend their seats.
At the state level, incumbent Petaling Jaya MP Hee Loy Sian will move to the Kajang state seat to replace Wan Azizah, while Azmin's aide Hilman Idham will contest the Gombak Setia state seat.
Azmin's former political secretary Shuhaimi Shafie will contest the Sungai Kandis state seat, while lawyer G. Sivamalar will be fielded for the Bukit Melawati state seat.
Caretaker state executive councilors Daroyah Alwi, Amiruddin Shaari, and Elizabeth Wong will all be fielded again.
Wong will be defending her Bukit Lanjan seat while Daroyah will defend her Sementa state seat.
Amiruddin meanwhile will contest the renamed Sungai Tua seat.
The announcements were made in front of a crowd of some 5,000 supporters at the Kuala Selangor stadium here.
