Copter crash: Remains of Noriah’s bodyguard arrive in Terengganu

KUALA NERUS: The Royal Malaysian flight Charlie C-130H carrying the remains of 26-year-old Lance Corporal Ahmad Sobri Harun arrived at the Sultan Mahmud airport here at 6.20am on Sunday.
The atmosphere at the airport was sombre as relatives and friends had gathered to receive the body flown from the air force base in Kuching.
Eight police officers marched into the carrier and covered the casket with a Royal Malaysian police flag followed by salutes from some 200 personnel as the officers placed the casket into the hearse.
The remains of the personal bodyguard to the late Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon will be taken to his home in Kampung Bukit Chempaka for final prayers.
He will be laid to rest at the Kampung Bukit Tok Mek Ngah Muslim cemetery.
On Saturday, police confirmed that the third body recovered by the search and recovery team near the helicopter crash site in Batang Lupar in Sarawak belonged to Ahmad Sobri.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman told reporters that Ahmad Sobri's identity was confirmed by the hospital and also a police authority card found on the body.
The police constable's body was retrieved not too far away from the spot where they found Noriah’s remains on Friday.
The six people inside the helicopter were Noriah, Dr Sundaran, Ahmad Sobri, Noriah’s husband Asmuni Abdullah, Kuala Kangsar MP and Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad and pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas.
KUALA NERUS: Sombre atmosphere filled the grounds of the Kampung Tok Mek Ngah Muslim cemetery as the remains of 26-year-old police constable Ahmad Sobri Haron, the bodyguard to the late Deputy Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon, were laid to rest on Sunday morning.
Ahmad Sobri’s body was buried at 7.35am. The burial ceremony was attended by family, friends, wellwishers and some 200 police personnel, parting with a final salute.
Also present was Mentri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, MP Datuk Basir Ismail, Batu Rakit assemblyman Bazlan Abdul Rahman, state police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman and state Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Hamzah.
Earlier, Rosli handed over the Royal Malaysian police flag which covered the casket to Ahmad Sobri's father, Haron Muda, 61.
Ahmad Sobri's elder brother Mohd Shafie Haron, 28, a bank employee in Kuala Lumpur, said he hoped all his brother's friends would forgive the police constable if he had done anything wrong.
