SUBANG: The aircraft carrying the body of Plantation Industries and Commodities secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai arrived at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Subang at midnight today.
As the C-130 Hercules aircraft landed, several family members including Datin K. Talagavathi and their two children, were seen walking out of the aircraft.
Eight pallbearers began to unload the casket from the plane.
The casket, draped in the Jalur Gemilang, was then loaded into a waiting hearse.
Family members however declined to talk to the media and requested for privacy.
It was learnt that the remains would be transported to the family’s house in Subang for funeral services slated to be held at 2pm today.
Also present at the air base were Chief Secretary to the government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Air Force deputy chief Datuk Seri Affendi Buang, and police's Air Wing commandant Senior Assistant Commissioner S. Satheeya Seelan, among others.
Surandran's remains was the second body recovered from the helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak.
Four other bodies believed to be from the helicopter that had been carrying six people onboard were also retrieved earlier today.
