Woman claims she was molested in bus during trip to Batu Pahat

JOHOR BARU: A Malaysian woman working in Singapore claimed that she was molested while travelling on a bus to Batu Pahat.
The 21-year-old victim, known as Xin Yan, said on Sunday (April 30), she had boarded the bus from the Larkin bus station to head home.
At around 6pm, she felt somebody grabbed her waist and groped her private part.
"I turned to the back and saw a man sitting behind me who quickly turned to look the other way," she said on her recent Facebook post.
She later fell asleep and when the bus reached the Simpang Renggam area, she felt a finger caressing her breast.
"I was shocked beyond belief when I saw the man who was sitting behind me earlier was now sitting next to me.
"He quickly ran back to his seat. I ran to him and shouted you buat apa? (what are you doing?), and he pretended to adjust the air conditioner," she said.
The victim immediately told the bus driver what had happened and told him not to let the alleged molester out of the vehicle.
When the bus reached the Ayer Hitam bus stop, the man wanted to alight from the vehicle. But he was stopped by other passengers who told him to sit down.
"However, when a passenger got down from the bus at Parit Raja, the man managed to escape from the vehicle's emergency exit," said the woman.
She added that the other passengers then gave chase. With the help of bystanders, they managed to catch the suspect and handed him to the police.
"I have been working in Singapore for the past three years and have always been very careful about my safety. Never did I expect this to happen to me," she said.
A report had been lodged at the Parit Raja police station.
